Visiting Radbroke

On the 27th March, we visited Radbroke in Knutsford to visit the apprentices at Barclays. In a group of 3, we went round in a 'speed dating' style task. We talked to all the apprentices who had come, and spoke about our a number of things, in a short space of time. We spoke about our ideas, what they did at the company, if they were willing to come down to Salford to do the shoot, and if they even like our ideas. We wanted to find out as much as we could, and get contact details about the people show were interested. The three of us had collected 9 people's emails, these people were the ones who seemed most interested in working with us and assured us they would get involved. This was very encouraging and made it more exciting for what we had to come. We felt this would be a great collaboration, all the apprentices seemed interested in what we did, and getting involved in something outside of work. They all liked our ideas, and that made us think we would be getting some good martial from this partnership.

After the 'speed dating' we were asked to come to the graduation of this years apprentices. We were gathered in a large conference room, and were asked to just take some images of the event. This event really showed how Radbroke and Barclays worked, it was very laid back and not formal in any way. The apprentices all dressed very differently, some in suits and ties, some came to work in jeans and T-shirt, very un expected. They were asked, once they came up to the front to collect their certificates, to take a selfie and they would have a competition to see who's was the best. Something you wouldn't expect at a bank at all. This made me realise that the times are changing when it comes to banking. The the increase of young people taking advantage of the apprentice scheme, its not surprising that they have adapted their way of working. It seemed a great place to work, and all the apprentices seemed to be getting a lot of good experience and opportunities at the company.
