Barclays Brief Ideas

For the Barclays brief, I firstly researched what a typical office worker portrait would look like. Many were sat behind a desk, with nothing on them. Showing no personality, nothing about what they do at the company and even about where they worked (as below.) I found many like this, and went on to look at less formal portraits.

This image (below) caught my eye because of firstly, he wasn't sat behind a desk. He was in a very empty room, with no restrictions, sat slumped forward and very casual. I liked the informal nature to this image, but we still don't get anything about their personality or what they do at the company.

For my over all idea, I want to show the apprentices at work, but still showing their personality. I wanted to have the apprentices sat at a desk, with there work surrounding the desk and any other work related items. I want them to dress in their normal work clothes from the waist up, but down from this I want them to wear something that expresses their hobby/interest. For example, one male apprentice would wear a shirt, tie and jacket on top, but may wear his football kit shorts, boots, socks and shin pads on the bottom. I want to shoot the pictures from an angle were you can see both aspects. I want them to be seen as not just office workers, but show their personality and their interests in the image. In the meeting with Barclays, they talked about how they wanted to show this side of them, as they are all young people, who will have other interests then work life. I want to make sure that they are completely happy with the set up, and want them to show themselves off to the camera at the shoot. I want to break the stereotype of people who work in an office. This is an exciting opportunity, and really look forward to taking our first trip to Radbroke.
