Visiting The Archive

After we were split into our groups, we visited the Salford Museum and Art Gallery archives.
My group, both level 4 and level 5, had to visit the archive on Wednesday 13 March at 4pm.

The Group I Was In:

Janna Dobson
Lucy Logan
Nicole Chadwick
 Stacey Reynolds
Rachel Mayers

We were directed to the correct areas to look by Duncan. Our area map was in Swinton and a small part of Pendlebury.  We had a lot to chose from as we 2 large filling cabinets to look through. The 4 level 5 students all met up, and was able to collect a lot of images. We worked as a team, with two looking through the cabinet, and the others photographing. We looked at the old map and decided which roads we wanted to explore.

We saw that Bolton Road was one the longest roads on the map, it looked to be the main road going through Swinton. We also focused on roads like Little Moss Lane, Worlsey Street and Carlise Street. With these roads, we were able to pul out images that were taken there.  Many of the images were of houses and back streets. But we felt we cold use these with our own images.

Here are some of the images we collected in a larger format. I chose to look at these as I felt the buildings would be easy to spot. The roads from the old map, to the current map have changed slightly, but I felt we would be able to find what we wanted. We decided as a group we would all go together, and make multiple trips to look at different areas.
