WONDERFUL LONDON in 1924 & 2014
Simon Smith took inspiration from Harry B. Parkinson and Frank Miller, who in 1924 documented London in a series of short films, known as "Wonderful London". Over the next few months Smith stood where they had 90 years riot to recapture their shots exactly, and have blended the two together creating a window through time through video. This is a different take on the still images in other photographers I have looked at, and is edited differently, but this is what gives Simons work a interesting look. The music he chose 'Symphony No. 4 by Gustav Mahler' really adds to the effect, and the text added really tells the story.

“To make my film I had to separate theirs into a set of stills, load them onto my phone and go hunting around London, but it became a fun weekend hobby." Simon Smith.
